Alfred Street Bridge, Parramatta, NSW

Specialist Lighting

Australia’s first true diagonal bridge, the Alfred Street Bridge shifts in orientation curving from the east at the Alfred Street entry to the west at the Baludarri Drive on the north. The unique diagonal arch gives people the opportunity to enjoy the experience of moving through the arch whether they are on the deck or passing underneath on a ferry.

The 4.5 meters wide and almost 200m long bridge spans across the Parramatta River between James Ruse Drive and the Gasworks Bridge and is part of the City of Parramatta’s vision for the Central River City which includes a revitalised river and connected, sustainable, innovative communities.

Webb Australia Group’s lighting treatment sensitively reveals the form of this unique bridge by grazing the top and underside surfaces upon approach, limiting amount of obtrusive lighting, as well as providing functional pools of light at the ground surface below from integrated handrail lighting.
