Electrical, Communications, Specialist Lighting, Mechanical & BMS, Fire, Hydraulic & Acoustic Design Services

Webb Australia designed and co-ordinated all Mechanical, Electrical, Communication, Fire and Hydraulics Services to meet the project brief and the Client’s high expectation of this Heritage Listed (former Bank of NSW) 1891 landmark building in Sydney’s CBD, which had lay unused for 8 years.

The proposed alterations were carefully integrated with the heritage fabric of the site, whilst being designed to accommodate a contemporary office fit out.

Webb’s experience in conservation and heritage projects was applied to create services including:

  • Mechanical + BMS Services
  • Electrical and Specialist Lighting Services
  • Information Communication and Technology Services
  • Audio Visual Services
  • Security Services
  • Hydraulic Services
  • Acoustic Services
  • Wet Fire Services

Particular challenges of the project included providing all services and air-conditioning to the basement level which was intended for large board rooms with high level of occupancy and low over all ceiling height.

The solution needed to accommodate high levels of outside air and large HVAC equipment and ducts that needed to be exposed and blended in with the heritage look of the building and limited allowance for façade penetrations.

The final design utilised redundant penetrations for old fire places, cavities and out of the box unconventional use of external elements to achieve current BCA and standards services and life safety requirements.
