The new lighting fittings installed use an RGBA LED spectrum, expanding the available range of colours to include warmer tones not previously available with the RGB fittings. Having the additional channel enables the ability to create amber, a colour previously impossible to achieve through standard RGB colour mixing. This expands the available range of colours to include those warmer tones such as rich gold, yellow and orange shades, not previously achievable. The new light fittings also employ the colour boost technology, which increases luminous efficacy by up to 40% depending on the colours being used.

Kurilpa Bridge was originally illuminated with a total of 150 luminaires, the new lighting design has reduced this number to 80 LED fittings. The newly installed light fittings are approximately 90% brighter than the original while consuming similar power consumption overall.

Due to this reduction and the new lighting design approach of installing the fittings on the masts, the required maintenance of the bridge has been significantly reduced. The installation is further optimised to limit the number of access locations from 88 to 20 for servicing the light fittings making the working environment a lot safer for the maintenance crews.
